YMCA Craft Show 1999 |
Hello everyone, & thank you for reading my crochet blog. I would just like to introduce myself.. ..I'm Lavinia, a mother of three wonderful children, part-time business student from Northern Michigan, & the owner of Lavinia's Crochet. I have been crochetting for more than 30 years! I learned to crochet at the age of 10. I really enjoyed watching my grandmother crochet afghans, dolls, and other cute little stuff. After she past away a year later, I was inspired to learn all that I could about crochet in her honor. Thank you so much Grandma! R.I.P.
I then began to go to the library to read up on how to construct all the different types of crochet stitches, & work on my yarn tension. I started making little dolls, my favorite dolls I'd make was the Kewpie dolls and pillow dolls. Once I taught myself how to read patterns, I began to writting my own pattens soon after. Later, I began selling these dolls @ my church by the age of 14.
Currently, I sell online and at various local craft shows. My mission in the crochet world is to teach children how to crochet and knit, as well as willing adults. I plan to accomplish this by publishing how to crochet books for beginners that will be easy enough for kids to read and understand. In the near future there will be' Lavinia's Crochet How to' videos to let them see that they can do it too!
